Partially becaus e of AestheticsinMotion and GogglesPizzano’s love for the Volvo brand, I was casually perusing them and came across this. Damn, if I had won the lottery, this would be my offroad vehicle. It comes with Volvo military bikes.

It definitely seems like they have a few variations running around. Looks like the article was just talking about the Canadian Sugga. Although it’s not the most well researched article.
“T he Sugga gets its name and body from the 1957 Volvo Sugga TP21, originally used as an off-road communications vehicle by the Swedish Armed Forces during the Second World War .”
The TP21 didn’t start production till 1953...

I noticed that, and promptly went to Wikipedia to check it. However, it turns out t he Sugga was “conceptually” based on a earlier military car from WW2, the Terräng perso nvagn o r TPV, which had the body of a Volvo P802 (1938-1947) atop a small lorry Volvo frame.

I wondered whether they were referring to the whole series and the TPV which looks like it started in 1944 which fits, although they specifically say “TP21" I’ll give the the writer the benefit of the doubt.

Lack of accuracy is terrible, but many journalists just don’t have the time to check stuff (or knowing very little about a subject, they don’t even know what to check). You have to write lots of pages to get paid a pittance.
Also bear in mind that a person writing for corporate communication most likely has no idea of the subject at hand (be it military offroaders or, even more strangely, energy drinks). If it sounds good and catchy and there are no spelling mistakes it usually gets a pass. Then consider also the corporate comms overlords themselves usually have no idea about anything , not even their employer’s area o r p r o d u cts .
